THIS WILL PROBABLY BE THE ONLY OPPORTUNITY IN A LIFETIME TO HAVE A CHANCE TO OWN THIS RARE FERRARI FERRARINA KID SIZED FERRARI 250 TR TESTAROSSA 180W!!!!
Although the original Ferrari badges are no longer attached and its not 100% factory new, Its still extremely rare and probably the nicest that will ever be offered again in any lifetime. Its a note-perfect down scaled car. This downscaled Testa Rossa racecar body, the 180 was not built at Ferrari’s factory in Maranello, Italy, but in neighbouring Modena by an independent shop, Modena Ferrarina. It would not have built without blessings from Enzo himself.
This is a kid-sized Ferrari 180 Testa Rossa that was sold as a "Ferrarina" by none other than Luigi Chinetti, the racing legend who became Ferrari's first dealer for North America.
It looks utterly extraordinary. This Ferrari Ferrarina is so unbelievably neat, its oozes coolness!!
Does it run? Yes But in that condition, it must. The cockpit consists of one lever and a steering wheel.
What might be the world's greatest kid car ever made is only a winning bid away. Probably never offered again as only 5 are known to exist and surely in the hands of Ferrari Corp or private collections never to be sold. This one has been owned for 50+ years and obtained sometime in the late 1950's to early 1960's. Its unrestored and comes in solid condition as pictured. It runs and drives fine. Everything seems to work. We have been told it may have originally came with a small half windshield, however no signs of an area where a windshield would have been attached exist. Many pictures have been added so please see pictures and please ask any questions.
The last one offered for sale SOLD FOR $126,500.00 in 2013 at The Art of Automobile auction in New York done by Sotherbys. It was a restored model. RESTORED VS UNRESTORED. THE RESTORED MODEL DID NOT GIVE THE BUYER AND ACCURATE ACCOUNT OF THE CONDITION OF IT BEFORE IT WAS RESTORED. DID THE RESTORED MODEL THAT SOLD FOR $126,500 HAVE BONDO, RUST ISSUES AND SERIOUS ISSUES BEFORE IT WAS RESTORED??? THE BUYER MAY NEVER KNOW. THE GREAT THING ABOUT THIS UNRESTORED MODEL IS YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE ITS 50+ YEAR OLD MINIMAL WEAR, NO BONDO, NO MAJOR DAMAGE AND NO RUST OTHER THAN VERY MINOR RUST THAT MOST WOULD NOT EVEN MENTION. IT MAY HAVE BEEN PAINTED IN THE PAST BUT YOU CAN TELL ITS SOLID AND SHOWS ONLY NORMAL WEAR FOR AGE AS PICTURED.
Among great automotive understatements of 2013, this would earn a place of privilege. Alain Squindo, vice president of Ontario, Canada-based RM Auctions, was speaking of the Ferrari 180 Testa Rossa kid sized Ferrarina, a hand-built confection manufactured in Italy and sold through a US Ferrari dealership in the late 1950s. A toy, it is not. Yet a toy, it is.
The restored 180 Testa Rossa kid sized Ferrari Ferrarina that sold for $126,500.00 was the headliner at the Ferrari 250 GTO – recognized as the most expensive car in the collecting hobby.
The 180 draws its name from two sources: the Testa Rossa racecar and the toy’s wattage rating (yes, this Ferrari is electric). Squindo notes that the consigned 180 was in running order, with .3 horsepower (decimal intended) available from its 12-volt motor to push it across a parquet floor – or round a cul-de-sac.
All 25 of the Ferrari Ferrarina 250 tr TestaRossa 180w's were distributed exclusively through Luigi Chinetti Motors, the only licensed Ferrari dealership in the US at the time that the cars were built. Chinetti was a longtime friend, racing teammate and business partner of Enzo Ferrari, and when an auction car is known to have passed through the doors of Chinetti’s now-shuttered Manhattan showroom, value is added.
“You could go to FAO Schwarz and order a custom-designed car for your child, but this was sold by Chinetti at his dealership,” Squindo says. “It reflects just how much respect and care was taken with these cars.”
THIS MINI FERRARI FERRARINA WOULD MAKE AN AMAZING ADDITION IN THE WORLDS FINEST COLLECTIONS!!
